I det här nya temat publicerar Filmarkivet.se ett urval journal-, dokumentär- och privatfilmer som återger samiskt liv och historia ur majoritetssamhällets perspektiv, från början av förra seklet till 1980-talet. Vi presenterar dem i underteman indelade efter fem samiska språkområden. Urvalet innehåller känsligt material och behöver förstås i sin kontext, läs därför våra etiska rekommendationer.
Temat är en del av projektet ”Samisk audiovisuell samling: filmer och TV-program i arkiv och på webb” (2019-2022), finansierat av Vetenskapsrådet, med flera. Projektet, som bland annat utmynnat i kollektionen ”Sápmi på film och TV” i Kungliga bibliotekets söktjänst Svensk mediedatabas (SMDB), är ett samarbete mellan Ájtte, Sametinget, Kungliga biblioteket, Svenska Filminstitutet, Umeå universitet, Stockholms universitet och Mittuniversitetet.
