From the depth of the coalmine to the fireplace
The date of this film about the production of coal is uncertain. It is probably from the early 1920s. The first half of the film shows coal mining in English Elsecar. We then follow the route of the coal to the importer “Lavéns Kolimport AB” in Stockholm. The film is presented here for the first time in two versions – one with Swedish intertitles and one with English intertitles. In collaboration with Historic England, the Swedish intertitles have been translated into English. The translation has been carried out by Jessica Lindmark, Maria Ala-Kaupila and Lucy Jessop.
